Why? 98% of the kernels are split, holds good in a pile, sheds water. I don’t need it any finer. Wheat, barely the same. Works for us, gains are good and minimal digestion issues.

I missed the comment about an 1/8” screen, yes that would slow it down considerably.


This is for a dairy operation. Not sure on the exact science behind why, but dairies want an extremely fine grind. 350-400 microns is the target for most of our dairy customers.


You are correct with feeding different products we only feed around 20% grain in the finnish ration ,the finer the grind the more efficent it is,i have had some nutrinist ask if I was grinding for dairy before they see my fat cattle-if I feed more grain i do not grind that fine
