S Illinois | No that’s not happening at all. Way too expensive to load at NOLA and not head directly to the final destination. Brazilian beans were just cheaper.
If China doesn’t want to pay import tariffs on soybean imports from the US they just waive them. Margins aren’t that good and price competition is too strong on bulk soybeans to play that game.
Edit: Brazil raised a crop 140% the size of last years US crop. Brazil also uses/crush less domestically than the US does. Brazil is not too far away from exporting the full amount of what China imports. Harvest timing/storage won’t allow Brazil to supply all of Chinese needs but it’s not far from it.
