There appears to be much health benefit from sun exposure and not all can be attributed to only vitamin D. Vitamin D is important for sure. But there seems to be benefit beyond that which we don't fully understand yet.

I agree on the sunscreen. We stopped using it about six years ago. I just stay out of excessive sun or wear long sleeve shirt, cover up, gloves, etc. Haven't missed using it.

Riding a motorcycle can be brutal on arms and hands (wind burn). I just wear very lightweight long sleeve shirts and lightweight gloves when on long sunny rides.
