Hooker Twp,Ne | Quite often it’s the subsoil that keeps the crop alive long enough until the timely rain shows. However if we have 100 degree days and blister south winds- the crop has a hard time sucking up enough sub soil moisture to survive. And Or only produce partial crop. Fortunately this morning we recieved 1.20 rainfall. Our soils in our area can normally only hold approximately.80 at a time. This I know from irrigation. First time I’ve seen water run into pond this year. Today they had cattlemen’s ball about 20 miles south of me. Ticket cost were $400 or $150. So I’m sure the rain slowed that down some this morning. Would have like to of gone but my ankle isn’t healed enough for that walk. We will raise something (hopefully) but raising a crop at crop ins 75% of aph coverage gets old and makes bill paying hard. | |
