Wisconsin | I agree with adding a bigger post behind the movement. Can't tell from the pics what the problem is, why it's weak. If you'd prefer to attach it to the building. I'd bolt a ledger against the wall just under the soffit, maybe a 2x6, then two 2x6's at the ends over to the posts. There's probably nothing behind the soffit, you'd have to screw through the bottom of the fascia, and that would be more likely to cause problems than the siding under the soffit. Slope the braces down away from the building a little will be enough to keep water out. | |
