So I did a quick search...your source is not wrong about losing 94% of export sales...but is not being completely honest either.
The sale of U.S. grown soybeans destined for China did fall by 94% back in 2018. The loss of the U.S. soybean export market to China was widely reported on back then...probably why Trump signed an MFP EO in 2019 to give $14.5 billion to U.S. farmers...which wasn't enough so he enacted CFAP 1 and 2 in 2020 as well to give U.S. farmers an additional $47.5 billion.
U.S. soybean exports to China plummeted by 94% in 2018 due to tariffs imposed by China in retaliation for U.S. tariffs. This dramatic drop in exports was particularly damaging to farmers in the Upper Midwest, as they struggled to find alternative markets and transport their soybeans to other destinations.
