I guess I don’t understand the math of breeding dry cows in today’s market. I would much rather take my chances on a virgin heifer of known quality.
Cow is half the price of a 8-900 pound open heifer? Get twice as many calves to sell next fall for the same money? I don’t know. I just keep back young cows of my own if they are open. No way I’m bringing in open cows with no calf on them.
