I always keep 100% of heifers. Cull unbred and build up a few years until I am ready to sell bred cows. To get back to my original herd size. Seems to work good for me. Just sold bred cows in 2024. The oldest cow I have is 7 years old. Keeps my herd pretty fresh but with my strategy I do have to buy new bulls every 2 or three years.
