If you have a healthy active pit you shouldn’t have a crust. And I healthy pit leads to a more uniform sample.
True, a lot of pits around here have crusting issues and gas issues. Had a friend/customer weld a gate last year and started his barn on fire because he wasn't aware of the flammable gas in the pit. He is now just starting the pucks as well. He is damn lucky to be alive and he was lucky that they were able to get the fire out before it was a major loss |
