Ok questions here . How early in fall was manure applied ? 220 to 260 is quite a range , are you fertilizing for 220 or 260 ? Have you had any heavy rains or warm ups through the winter or before planting ? Central indiana here so soils and weather quite different on how we are utilizing n efficiency. Our experience is 5000 can get you 220 without additional n some years not realistic to think we could get 260 . So we would add extra . We set out goals quite high so we don’t want n to be the limiting factor . If you goals is least dollars invested in crop your probably good as is but likely leaving roi on the table is our experience without adding extra nitrogen. Manure is a wonderful source of fertilizer but a lot of factors can influence its utilization efficiency.
