I used to air dry for feed not hauling out so seldom tested moisture but corn dries from bottom up and feed draw came from top.
I would put corn in when it was 25% or preferably drier and turn fan on until it froze.
As weather warmed in spring I would run fan on nice clear days until I thought drying front had met my feed draw then occasionally after that just to be sure.
I think the original poster probably has dry corn below where he tested
I'm in the same area as you. Family has done exactly what you described but I've never personally done it. Started the fan Oct 31 when I started filling the bin and didn't shut it off until mid December, then ran the colder nights in Jan and Feb to keep things fresh and frozen. I'm going to prob as deep as I can tomorrow and see what's in the bottom half of the bin. |
