NCND | Did strips with nh3 14-21 days prior to planting. Was suppose to get rain never did. Planted corn about 4” to side using autopath. Corn planting started May 6th and quit the 13th. Got 5” of rain over 8 days starting the morning of May 13th and was very cold. We had very hot temps May 9-12 approaching 100 degrees. When things dried out I went out to look at things and I was quite happy as all my corn was nice and even termed just below surface. Started checking again yesterday after finishing flowers and corn hasn’t moved much. Notable root burn on a great majority. Radicle is probably 1” and burnt with seminal roots in all sorts of conditions. My stand is decent considering the hot temps followed by 5” and highs in the 40s for a week. Never dealt with root burn before.
Tear it out, go on a 2 month vacation?
Rain forecast looks to be dry for this time of year over next 10 days. Soils are 20-25 cec and higher. Applied 80-90lbs N
