I'll guess they used a figure like imports vs exports dollar wise, so MT and WY import more food and export more raw grains and cattle, so run a "trade deficit" food wise. If they did a calorie import export, then MT would produce a huge amount of wheat compared to it's population, wouldn't it? Meanwhile CA would have lots of nuts and raisins and pot, but less bread and potatoes. | |
