Subject: Cows in the corn

Coastal South Carolina
Good afternoon.

This was an unplanned experiment. Of course it was beside the highway for everyone to see!

I planted this field of corn too thick. 45k per acer on a sandhill without irrigation. I didn't know how to thin without destroying and starting over. I decided to get something out of it instead of nothing. I let it grow to about waist high and then turned 18 grown cows and 12 calves on it. I have control grazed them from 3 to 5 hours a day for 14 days. Needles to say they are doing well. I control grazed them to keep them from getting too loose.
