I think Al means that he used RIT dye- not bluing as in "whitener".
Almost certainly, Duluth is using a fabric with some synthetic fiber that does not take or hold stain/dye well, which is why the RIT is not " taking". The durability of Duluth fabric almost certainly comes from the incorporation of synthetic fiber.
