Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
OK, so your goal is to spray the entire area but use hoods to prevent drift to other nearby crops. You do want complete coverage within the field. I guess the sections would not have to have the same number of columns as each other although I've always seen them that way.

When you have several columns beside each other, it is best to feed from the center and go out both ways or split the feed line and feed from both ends. The balls will indicate the amount of flow through each column which you would want to be the same. If the feed lines are too small they could add restriction to a "wider" set of columns. I have no idea of the flow you need but from the picture it appears that the inlet to the Ace Pump might be quite small. It may be adequate but one should never restrict the inlet to a pump, much better to be overly large rather than too small.

Do you "burn off" the field prior to harvest? I visited a friend in South Texas near the Rio Grande some years ago. We were able to watch as they burned off some fields there prior to harvest. My understanding is that this was quite common for many years but not as much recently. It was very interesting to watch them go around the field with a tractor and mounted LP tank with a flame holder out the side to set the field on fire. They had homemade fire trailers with water tanks and pumps to extinguish potential problem areas. It was somewhat breezy and the fire went through the field quite rapidly.
