That seems like a spot on assumption to me.

The lower the threshold for diagnosis, the more the market is to sell pills to address the diagnosis. Not that there are not also good reasons for the change in parameters. 

I don't think the medical community is completely corrupt. In fact I think most people in the industry have patients best interest at heart. But when monetary incentives are there.................. like the CEO of a bank I once had association with told us, what you incent for you will get. Incentive to make money is a powerful incentive with for profit, large, medical institutions.
