If crossing on 90 at LaCrosse take 93 up to Eau Claire, you might be 2-4 weeks early for the fall colors, still great scenery and good road, not quite as fast as interstate, but can still make good time on it. 35 up thru Fountain City is nice too, but more miles and slower road.
