Subject: RE: john blue piston pump question

Holly Hill, SC
Is it a proven design? Same sprocket ratios and orifices as last year.

We had trouble one year with our infurrow system using John Blue pump to a John Blue stainless steel flow divider (removed the plunger and spring because I didn't like how it worked) to individual flow monitors to orifices. We were over pressurizing the flow monitors and had trouble getting even flow. Ended up being the cast iron fitting between the top of pump and flow divider was rusted and rust was stopping up the output holes in the flow divider. Next year removed the flow divider and went with manifold monitors to the orifices.

Like others have said, if the design is correct (can use the John Blue pump calculator online for pump settings and ratios and design the orifices using tee jet charts) and there is a restriction on a row or two then that liquid has to go somewhere and pressure will increase.
