IF you're really interested Mackinac Island, staying on the island one night is GREAT. However, I suggest you consider doing it the week before, even during the week. The price will be maybe 25% of what the prices are during Labor Day weekend. You might find the rates are even less if you pick Monday/Tuesday before the weekend.
