West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12
The short answer is yes, less loads hauled is much better for the environment.

The State of MN proved the same thing and more on the State test track located alongside I-94 by Monticello, MN when the State of MN made the decision to allow six axle 90,000lbs and seven axle 97,000lbs special agricultural/unprocessed agricultural products overweight permits for non-interstate hwy. travel.

The State of MN also proved that the longer bridge length along with more axles causes less damage to roads and bridges. They also proved more axles = more brakes made the vehicles are safer as well.

Like you, I don't understand why the Federal Government doesn't follow States like MT, ND, MI, and MN lead.
