Subject: RE: Another beat to death subject, replacing hydraulic pumps

Faunsdale, AL
The remans I’ve been into all had had the camshaft reground undersize to clean up wear. How deep the hardening on that eccentric is concerns me. The second issue was that once the eccentric is ground undersize, the rollers that fit between the race and the eccentric no longer work out correctly. The solution is to throw in a smaller roller to take up the excess space. This seems to work but for how long? All the pumps I went through were remans that had failed. Didn’t have a single original pump in the collection to look at.

I wound up buying a new shaft, rollers and race along with some washers that go on the ends of the rollers that had not been installed in any of the reman pumps. Again, obviously the pumps ran without them for some length of time, but why would the OEM pump have them if they weren’t useful?
