To the OP, are you using self tapping , or self drilling screws?? The terms get interchanged frequently and can confuse the subject. Post a picture of the fasteners you are using. It could be that the thread pitch is too coarse for the gauge of sheetmetal being fastened. Poor quality self drillers can remove too much metal also.
