Wisconsin
IF you really want to cross at Prairie du Chein, that will be a scenic drive whether you take the river road (35) to La Crosse, or the Black River road (27) to Sparta and then to Tomah and over 21? The Black River road is nothing special, just average scenic winding country road, don't tell Jim or Brown Cow. The River road is worth seeing, but I'm not sure you want to take that time in the middle of your trip? It would be a LONG two days, especially if you do scenic stretches. I'd think up to 94 might be quicker if you want to get to the "northwoods" faster, but you'll see enough pine trees going across the UP either way you go.

If you wanted to stop at Prairie du Chein, stop at the Fort Crawford museum, with historical ties to Mackinac. Lots of other sites if you have time, let me know.
