Alton, Ia | I don't get the sprayer must match the planter math. 40' planter/90' sprayer works here. Granted, we are on 20"s, but not real sure it matters. My outside pass my right wheel runs between pass 1 & 2 of planter. Sprayer center is 3 rows from planter edge. I usually don't bother with guidance on outside pass.
In-field, in corn if rows are straight or long curves I follow the row. With RTK on planter, doesn't matter if I match planter. If contours, which is 90% of our fields, I spray straight back and forth for both corn and beans. A LOT less damage than following contours and running over rows in curves with the rear tires and all the turning around required. Lots less. In beans, damage is a lot less going across than with row.
My GPS shutoffs couldn't care less what direction the rows are, they work fine.
If I try to match planter and sprayer, am I not going to straddle planter passes all the way across the field? Or make a 1/2 width pass at first?
Maybe it's just me. But my weeds are dead, so there is that.
