Faunsdale, AL | Can also put some JB Quick or BONDO in the groove where you would use the filler band.
Smooth it out before it sets and scrape or sand it smooth enough for the retainer snap ring to ride out over it. You really want it to be level with the bore or even leaving a very slight depression since the gland is only a few thousandths smaller than the cylinder bore.
Need a picture of the gland end of the cylinder to advise how to disassemble it.
Parts book shows only two kits. Bore kit will have seals for piston and gland to barrel joint since they’re all for that diameter. It’s possible there may be some different type seals in the kit that will not fit your type cylinder for some reason. Rod kit is specific for a certain size rod, but again it may contain “extra” parts that will not fit your cylinder gland. The extras cut down on the number of different kits needed, and increase the chance that if you get the one dimension (bore/rod diameter) correct, you’ll have the seals to finish the repair. The extras do play a part in the exorbitant cost of the kits from the dealership. Markup on twice as many seals as are actually required compounds the cost compared to Hercules or other seal suppliers. | |
