From what you're saying, it seems your pump is working too hard for some reason.
Things to check:
What is the service factor on the pump? Most motors can run more amps than nominal.
Is it a 10 Amp breaker?
If the pump has switchable voltage, make certain it's on the correct voltage. Running 240 when put to 120 can cause overheating/overwork.
