Subject: RE: Looking for advice about Sudan grass

East of Broken Bow
It will keep coming back until frost as long as it has moisture and isn't grazed to the dirt.

We are wary of it 'here' because under certain conditions it can be toxic. I planted some a couple years ago, and the bales tested high enough in nitrates it took me 2 years to get them fed out. Don't plan on ever planting it again, will be something safer.
I will say that much of the toxicity is a result of weather conditions, and central Nebraska has too many extrememes IMO for Sudan in a cow-calf operation.
