This is what I do. Had a course at Purdue that taught some on precipitation and the different factors that go into it. For the most part I can be about exact on if it will or won’t rain when looking at the charts rather than “20% chance of rain, 70% chance” what have you. That drives me crazy. Gotta have certain conditions if it’s actually going to rain, if we don’t have them don’t say it’s a 50% chance. I can’t say how much we’ll get but generally feel confident in my opinion of if it will or won’t be wet outside. Just a few weeks ago they were forecasting decent chances of rain and Dad was planning what he was going to do on the rain day. I told him forget it because he was going to be running a planter, I know he didn’t believe me. The day of the forecasted rain showed up and what do you know he’s running a planter in beautiful sun all day I say it's a 50/50 chance every day it either will or it won't.. When looking at percentages I've been told it's what percentage of a certain area will see precipitation not necessarily there's a 30% chance it will and 70% chance it won't. |
