Central Nebraska | I'm going to be the rotten apple in this discussion and I'm pointing fingers and many people, not just the OP. Too many people treat their computers and their bookkeeping system like the ugly red-headed step child and think that just because it worked last year, 3 years ago, 10 years, ago, etc that it is just fine. Your computers are just like your equipment. They need maintenance. Physical and software. Cleaning them, replacing CMOS batteries, and updating hardware and software should be no different (or scarier) than keeping your equipment field ready. Yes, some of you are farming with the same tractor you bought 40 years age but I can almost guarantee that the tractor is less powerful than a newer one, not a clean, and not as refined. It only works because you took the time to keep it working. If you treated your computer the same way it would last a long time as well. |
