You're slightly confused. A 855 and a N14 may share displacement, but that's about it. The 855 was the earlier motor that spanned many years. In the late versions, Cummins had a 444HP which mainly didn't last, at all. Some guys would twin turbo a 855 and get it to 475, but again, they didn't last. The N14 came out in 91 and could stay together at much higher HP settings as you noted 525 being popular. Really it's amazing how much harder CAT was able to push HP years before. Hope I cleared that up for you. A 855 is not a N14
Sorry, I’m talking about guys running 93xx Steigers. They had both 855 and N14-A. Guys did the same thing with both engines. No they aren’t exactly the same but do share many similarities. |
