Could try to enable hardware acceleration by throwing a $60 1050ti in it? My bet is a JD ops center update isnt shaking hands with Firefox ESR for W7 and there is likely no fix coming.
Windows 7 was a great OS, probably my favorite version of Windows (that or XP) but it might be time to think about something newer. Don't shoot the messenger, I hung on a long time too and still use W7 regularly offline.
