North Central Indiana | You saying $100/hr total for 2 guys? Easily double that here unfortunately. I’d be upset the initial estimate was so far off but the reality is that’s probably about what that job would go for around here. Always get multiple estimates on jobs like that imo. Not just to pick the cheapest but also to have some idea if the one is in the right ballpark. I’m not sure we’ve hired anything done around our house without seeing at least 2 estimates. Sometimes low guy gets it, sometimes one guy comes across as far more competent and they get the job. One particular job I was having done I was working on another project of similar nature, but on a smaller scale that he noticed after giving me the estimate. So we talked a bit about what I was doing and he said “we’ll have 3 of us here working on this project, we usually have some downtime for one or two of us. We’ll finish that for the price I already gave you while we’re here. Go buy x and y that you still need to finish it”
Needless to say they did the big job and finished up my small job far cleaner than I could’ve hoped for on my own | |
