| If it was a bid and you didn’t change anything, it should really only be $800. If it was an estimate, he can basically charge whatever he wants. I guess this is probably a judgement call at this point. If it’s a kid just starting out that you’ve known for a long time, I’d probably sit down and have a conversation with him about the price issue. If he doesn’t offer a discount after hearing your side, I’d pay the price and never hire him again and not suggest his services to anyone. If it’s just some random person that you only met because of this, I’d be a little harder on him and want to see things turn out more fairly.
