Depends what you’re doing and how you feed. We’ve been using silage to cut down on feeding hay. Feed 1/2 the amount of hay and the balance is silage. But we don’t go into the silage pile until cold weather hits, so usually feed Nov-end of January as calves start hitting the ground the last 1/2 of Feb.

Last few years corn stalks have been working great as well with the limited snowfall
