Vauxhall Alberta Canada
The worst blowing field I have ever had was seeded to a cover crop. It was a field of dry beans that I planted back into fall rye. The rye got about 4-6 inches tall and was really nice and thick. Then the tundra turkeys showed up by the tens of thousands and ate everything and pulverized the soil. Had sand dunes a foot and a half high and filled in a couple of acres of lake due to all the damage. We tried ripping some of the field and it blew out as far down as the chisel plow went. Anything green in the field during late fall and over winter and into spring seems to attract geese and if the numbers are great enough there is nothing you can do. This particular field is about 350 acres in size and it was at least 2/3 covered by snow geese. Sometimes bare worked ground is better.
