Same shelves I mention. I put the wire rack on the top shelf. I put the pressed board on the lower shelves.

The wire rack lets light down to lower levels, and allows you to see from below what is on the shelf.

The press board doesn’t let things fall through. Over time with a heavy load they do sag some anyhow on the widest version.

I find the combination a good compromise.

But you do bring up a good point on the open vs closed shelving.

I found the narrow version of that shelving to be perfect for storing JD 7000 planter boxes. Used to just have them scattered on the floor, now they have a place to be. No actual shelving for this, just set the boxes between the rails.
