I’ve only had 2 situations where I felt I got a good real life farm average yield comparison. One guy with 2 1770nt’s one guy with 2 db58’s. Both farms watch their programs closely, yield maps, scale tickets ect. The 1770s had vset/delta force and eset/deere auto air 12bu advantage to delta force they grow 4000ish acres of corn. Both planters are delta force now.
The dbs were eset/delta vs eset/air force but the Air Force was mostly in manual trying to keep up with the changes which dosnt work well. Delta force+16. Now Both planters are delta
1770s were same age same size 24/30 same fertilizer. Dbs set up same but 1 year difference in age the first one was a beta delta force. We did t know how much it was helping till the next year when the next planter was bought.
I have had several customers give opinions on how much it helps and I believe them but it’s impossible to know for fact as every year throws something different at us. It comes down to the fact you need to get to depth very consistently, hold the trench together without packing the trench to much. Can you get it done without hydraulic? Maybe it’s not likely it will be easy tho and not row by row. Some conditions are forgiving some not. Around here it’s been helpful. Consistent emergence is what we see when measuring. I have seen where to much down force was a big limiting factor, unless in a plot set up you can’t really see it.
