North Central Illinois
I started with dorper/katahdin cross ewes and have been using white dorper rams the last 3 generations.

Peak lambing percentages come with lambing in April-June. Lambing September -November they'd only do 150% and around 200% in January-March.

I tried to do the breed every 8 months routine and found it really only added one lamb every 2 years and I needed to feed top quality feed all year. Settled on April lambing and that way I can turn them on corn stalks in November when the rams get turned out and supplement a little hay if the snow gets too deep until they go in the barn around the end of February.
