Loosen the drain plug to let any water out of the tank, then I generally take a 12 pump like a fill right and stick it in the tank, and pump most of it out. Remove plug, and flush the crap outta the bottom of the tank.
It’s a pretty common issue. 50 years of crap floating around and settling out, just needs flushed out.
