Fairfield County, Ohio, USA | Perhaps try the process of elimination on the light switch -- only connect power in and one outgoing circuit at a time, to see if that changes anything. Perhaps there's a dead short in some circuit.
Use a volt meter on the circuit breakers. Immediately after you've attempted to use the lights and they failed to work, are any of the circuit breakers tripped?
If your light switch is off, and you attempt to use the turn signals, do they work in either direction?
