East of Broken Bow
Know a guy who works on trucks, and he rigged up a little generator and oilless air compressor, and puts a quick connect fitting on the air tank. Fires up the generator, turns on the air compressor (I'm sure a gas powered compressor would be even better) and tows the truck in Neutral, with someone steering it and operating the brakes manually. It is MUCH safer to tow a truck with someone in the seat and working brakes. Use the tow vehicle to speed up, and the truck being towed to slow down and stop, and you shouldn't have any 'jerk' when going. I wouldn't go to Chicago this way, but IMO it is the safest DIY way to get the truck home.
