Iowa | I took one off a 12v 5.9 last winter. I had to resort to some heat on the exhaust ports on the head around the bolts to get them to "pop" loose. Tried them all first gently with a 1/2" breaker bar and while some came loose others had that feel they were going to break off so they got some heat with success.

Have been told in the past to break a bolt loose then tighten it back up before moving on to the next one. Idea was if you remove the bolts as you go the remaining bolts have even more tension on them from the neighboring bolts being removed especially if the manifold is warped. Sounded believable to me so that's what I've done. | |
