Faunsdale, AL | Yes, on an old truck or tractor from the dry clutch days, engine doesn’t have to run, just spin along with the transmission and your gear transmission gets the same lubrication it would get at any other time. And most importantly you get power steering and brakes!
If you’re going to pull it without engine spinning, then you want to put it in tow. With an automatic or powershift trans, permaclutch tractor etc when you can’t spin the engine by towing it, or any problem that would preclude spinning everything, absolutely put in tow, disconnect driveshaft, lift the drivers etc.
