Why do you need FWA tractor for a 12 row planter?

You don’t. But his 85? Hp 2wd I think is too small. He is looking for a tractor that can do much of tillage as well. He is using older white FWA for tillage now. It might not have long left…
So his plan *as I understood it*. New (er) planter, new (er) tractor with planting quality GPS. That can do at least some tillage. I don’t know hyd requirements of planters set up as he wants.
As to $20k not being concern for tax. While I need to check w/tax person.
I understand you subtract purchase price, long term improvements from selling price? So between new irrigation system, semi/grain trailer. I think I am within $50k of *break even*
So $20k planter…. Plus I am thinking if I see another local dryer bin going cheap…. So many went for hundreds of dollars 24’ full floor, latest stirrators…. If irrigation produces as I hope. A 2nd dryer bin, short term storage could be useful.
So I could start storing soybeans for a few months…. It stopped paying plus a decade back imo. But now it looks like holding beans till spring might be worth it?
