| I’m a rookie in the cow calf game. But I dropped a big group of heifer pairs off to summer pasture last Friday. Pasture is alfalfa/orchard grass.
I know the runny manure is pretty normal while they adjust from a dry hay to lush pasture diet.
Is it also normal for them to look just a little sucked in and not as full as they had been? Seems to make sense that the rich forage is just running through them while they adjust so they might not look as full? But just want to make sure, as I’m trying to keep them in the best shape possible heading into breeding season.
I was expecting condition to improve going to grass, but that hasn’t been the case in the short time they’ve been there. But I’m assuming they just need some time?
