We had had Deere 7000's, Kinze, Black Machine w/Kinze, Deere 1770, White 8000 series, all with Precision mods of some kind, and now a 1255 CIH that my brother owns that's got nothing but a VSet conversion and trash wheels... not even DF control. You are right to look at a CIH for the gauge wheels, and the openers require less DF to make a trench with their narrower profile.

If you already have that much tech on your White, I would immediately add Copperhead closing wheels like we did on White's and Deere's. Seed trench will never be open nor have air pockets. Some people like the other brands of spike wheels for their conditions.

We are not no-tilling, but definitely minimum tillage with this 1255.
