The IH Control Center is the pioneer of every cab built today. ALL OF THEM. And the Sound Guard is no picnic getting in or out of. Door post, Muffler and Air Cleaner right in front of you to look through. Cramped space for a big guy. Rip the door off if you leave it open. What a joke. This is not a good design. The Sound Guard was good in its day, a sort of deluxe aftermarket cab replacement.

There is no question IH set the pace in modern tractor cab design. Every IH feature such as location, windshield, visibility, roominess etc. etc. has been copied to death. All the bitching about door egress is by the guys that compare today's brand new cab to one that is nearly 50 year old because they look and are basically the same.

The road to new innovation such as the IH 86 Series Control Center is always a struggle. It is important to remember that the first of the new have to compete with the last of the old.

From Google AI: A new invention becoming a standard means a new technology or design is widely adopted and used across an industry or field, becoming the accepted and expected way things are done. This often happens after a period of experimentation, refinement, and eventual standardization through consensus or market dominance.
