Southeast Washington | Reading some of the responses and I haven't seen the hire a hay person just to get it done in a timely manner for a couple of years. Hay in our area should be in the bloom area. Waiting till the hay gets more mature reduces the quality of the hay and animals don't like mature hay making your crop worthless. If the weather cooperates so got can do it all with one tractor means it has matured too fast at the same time to make a quality product. If you get rain and don't have enough equipment to process a quality product or mold then you have lost a crop. I think it is best to hire it done at first to see how the product is and what it takes to get it off in a timely manner. | |
