East Central Nebraska | I have a 6100 white corn planter and a 5400 CIH soybean special drill. I do like the way the drill plants beans, I'm talking the row units that touch the ground. Honestly, I think if you are maintaining your planter now days, probably not a whole lot of difference with the white/JD/Kinze as pretty similar when it comes to openers/closers. I would even bet if you had them all lined up in a field for a test, probably the only difference would be more soil related that planter related. I even have the HD John deere blades on my White because they were on sale a few years ago and almost half price of AGCO and even cheaper than Shoup. I bought my planter on big iron from a guy that was retiring about 30 miles away. Wish I would have bought his bean planter too. He had a 900 or 950 that style of planter (don't remember the number), 23 row 15" planter and he had schegel closing wheels on it. So you can put different closing systems on the Case. Last weekend, there was a Fendt tractor and planter getting a demo in the area. Lots of comments from the coffee shop that was extremely positive to the Fendt planter and most of these guys wear green and blue planter underwear. They seemed to think that was the best one out there. I've never been up close to one. | |
